A Pallette of Poetry

Twisted love, Exploding the crest, All by myself, Close to my heart, Feather, Holding the Vision, Sunshine, Below smoky skies

Twisted love
Round 'n round the 'dusty' roared
and picked up cows; the bovines soared,
the tractors lifted from the field,
and rooftops spun, till high they wheeled,
nay! flocked across the sunny skies,
like giant spiralled butterflies.

Far away it came to me,
the splintered bits of memory.
Oh glorious Whirlwind, do not die -
the toilet-flusher of the sky.

Exploding the crest
A flap, one then two; onetwo! in a flow,

spurs on my little friend's wing in the rush
that pulls the ground deep, deep, deeper below
to the edge of my eye's fading reach.
We breathe a space moist with the hush
far above golden bay and white carve of beach.

Though the brightness of sky surrounding our wheels
plays zestful reflections in the glass of the sea
My form in the air transcendental feels
deep in flight ; we are lost to the slumbering World.
He and I disappear, in a flash we are free
not a ripple below to mark where we swirled.

It is white, it is light; whitelight! fills the sky
vibrates in our bodies as softly entranced
in the music of most healing vapours we fly
through a misty retreat of space without Time
our wings almost touching we in an intimate dance
in a world of our own, we glide on, sublime.

Solid seconds of ice walls threaten to take
the very Sun from the sky, a fearsome dark ending
but look! how blind Fear is, we learn it's chill fake
as walls become windows to inspirational sight.
We cut through the ice and it melts on our wing
We explode from the crest into breathless delight.

All by myself

Far past the peaks, higher than dreams,
the wing of my love soars cumulus themes
towering structures that aren't really there,
yet they dazzle my mind and swirl in the air.
My breath becomes hushed, my thoughts become still
as I trace along slowly the base of your will.
Mile after mile through the vaporous sky;
yet you're always beside me, so fearlessly high.

Kissing the clouds, into heaven's own breeze
I steal a small moment of your spiritual ease.
And a light through the window of mist-ringed blue
burns the plains below to a golden-brown hue.
Ah! in that instant alone do I see your whole plan
That you're always above, so I can be Man.

Close to my heart

Some part of the sky is touched now by you
the air a hint warmer, the colour deep blue
and the currents swirl idly, turned in your wake
into memories of freedom, gifts to take
to your heart when you curl up to sleep through the night
for soon you'll live your dream and step into flight.

Feather

summer skies are full of sun
autumn cools the laughter's fun
winter cold around us wraps
till spring grows green through stormy snaps

But though the seasons turn and pale
Though the day to night must fail
even when the stars are lost
and all the world seems clenched in frost
there is a warmth to melt the chill
that bonds our hearts in love, until
we're linked in friendship's web anew
Rejoice! your brethren soar, they wait for you.

Holding the Vision

The time is ripe, oh gifted one, to spread your arms out free
For many moons and stars have turned, in waiting for your lessons learned
and oh how strongly has it burned?
that bird your mind can see.

The tide of Life flows in, draws back within its waters' darkened roar
some dreams that trailed on in your wake, those visions kept for Passion's sake,
and as the waves crash down and break
those dreams wash back to shore.

The Sky calls out with space and might, your wings spread wide and free.
That vision seen will leave your sight!, unless you hold on, Oh so tight,
When clasped both hands the dream of Flight
Becomes your living fantasy.

SUNSHINE!

It was a sky
filled with rising promise
a day
of tumultuous adventure
Perspective exploded
outwards into my mind
leaving the earth behind
in an everyday haze
how we forget
and how we remember!
the Sun shines eternal
if we can fly high enough.

Below smoky skies

The day dawned weakly through the cold and cloud
limp pennons clung to proud projections of our hope
but Ill, the Wind that blows no good
her vapours round our ankles blew

The echoes in the halls at night
resounding steel on polished steel
as untried swords aloft were raised
in fantastic battles of anticipation

The day dawned hot above smoky shroud
Our coloured wings leapt eager from the slope
The thrill of battle surged through our blood
till nightfall claimed our souls as men of Earth
