The Riddler's Gift                                            AUDIOBOOK                                  The fantasy novel, as read by the author Greg Hamerton
In a time when the world was ravaged by chaos, one kingdom remains; ordered, isolated, protected. Then Tabitha Serannon awakens an ancient power and the world begins to change.

She is hunted for her talent. The Shadowcasters whisper in her ears as their evil closes around her. Soon the Riddler walks beside her, but is he on her side? She has a moment to learn the magic before she loses her grasp of the Lifesong, but the path she must follow leads into Darkness; into terror, treachery and desire.

To survive she must give voice to a music that she hardly understands, an enchantment that will echo through all time.

WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT THE AUDIOBOOK? MORE ABOUT THE BOOK
It's quite a different experience lying back on your bed with an MP3 player and having the book read to you, instead of straining your eyes late into the night and having to work out how to pronounce those archaic English words. The audiobook gives you a unique opportunity to hear the story with all the inflections and emotions that the author intended when he wrote the book, things you might miss when reading it on your own.

It was a lot of fun to perform the book out loud. It's not as simple as you'd think, because each character has to speak with their own voice in dialogue sections. I pushed myself to my limit with dramatising the story properly. The Darkmaster was especially painful since he has a hoarse, mobster voice. The Riddler was great fun. The Cosmologer was a scream.

So instead of getting stressed out in the morning traffic, get The Riddler's Gift audiobook and join me for an adventure you'll never forget.

HOW DO YOU MAKE AN AUDIOBOOK? ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I have a quiet work-room which doubles as a studio. I started by talking into my hat (literally) to try and shield the microphone from outside sounds, but after running out of air realised there had to be a better way. The Logitech noise-cancelling microphone USB headset was a great solution. Using Audacity software was a pleasure and allowed for all the recording, after-effects and digital editing I needed.

It's a slow process since you have to stop for every lippo (like a typo, sometimes you just don't say what you meant to say). You need to synchronise your breathing with the tail end of the track, then re-record from there onwards. And then just as you get to the moment critique, a flock of Morrigán fly over the house, with their lunatic-asylum chorus.

The files are recorded in WAV format (for possible CD release) and MP3 format. The artwork is adapted from the book cover, the files are burnt to CDs, and hey presto! you have an audiobook. It gets its own ISBN number since it's a different version.
