The Orange River is born high in the Drakensberg Mountains and travels 1500km before coming to rest in the Atlantic Ocean on the opposite side of the African Continent. Just south of the Kalahari Desert it tumbles 60 metres into the shadows of a steep-sided gorge - Augrabies, or 'place of great noise' in the native Khoi language. Nobody has ever intentionally negotiated the massive rapids directly below the falls. With low water levels the big gradient, gargantuan boulders and the sheer walls of the gorge make it impossible to safely navigate. But world class kayakers Andrew Kellet, Alex Nick.s, Brad Ludden and Diego Valsechi have a vision to unleash the river's power.
